Pets as therapy
We are excited to let you know that we welcomed a Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog into our school as part of our reading support programme.
Our visiting dog, Beau, is a gentle, well‑trained PAT dog who loves being around children. Beau came into school with his trained handler and will spend time listening to children read in a calm, supportive environment.
Having a therapy dog in school has been shown to help children:
- feel more relaxed and confident while reading
- develop their reading fluency and enjoyment
- build self‑esteem and communication skills
